In this episode of the Sustainable Dish Podcast, I speak with Lierre Keith, author of The Vegetarian Myth: Food, Justice, and Sustainability, about her experience being a vegan for almost two decades and her eventual transition back into eating meat.
If you’ve watched my film, Sacred Cow, you’ll recognize Lierre and her story about how it occurred to her while trying to grow a vegan garden that there is no life without death.
She could either be a part of the cycle that creates more death or she could be a part of the cycle that creates more life.
We discuss this and so much more.
If you are vegan or a former vegan (or know someone who is), I encourage you to check out this episode.
You can find more information about Lierre on her website.
This episode is sponsored by Teton Waters Ranch, one of my favorite “better meat” companies. Their sausages and hot dogs are 100% grass-fed beef and delicious. Bring hot dogs back to your dinner table and check out all of the amazing products at Teton Waters Ranch.

I have friends who are close to vegan who I thought would be interested in this, however the fact it is sponsored by a meat company totally put them off. At university you are always taught to treat science with extreme caution if sponsored by a party who have a stake in a particular outcome, unfortunately we just cannot take this seriously based on this
It’s difficult to keep all of this information going with no money. You can give them her book, which is not sponsored by anyone. I need someone to help support me financially and it’s a grass-fed beef company. The podcast is FREE information. They’re welcome to listen or not.
This is not a scientific examination of veganism. This is a woman, a long term vegan, talking about her experience. Not a scientific study. Also Diana is upfront about her belief that meat is important for human health, nothing to do with the sponsor.
